(4028) Jemison, Edward E.  Lieutenant. 1 NJ Cav.  Age 25.  Husband of Mary Jane Jemison (Barnart), and father of Abigail, Gardiner, and Albert.  Enlisted 13 Aug., 1861 for three years.  Mustered in as a Sergeant, Co.E, 20 Aug., 1861. Promoted to Orderly Sergeant 1 Jan., 1862, and First Sergeant 12 Jan., 1862.  Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant 8 Oct., 1862, and mustered into Co.D, 24 Oct., 1862 at Washington, D.C..  Promoted to 1st Lieutenant 12 Jun., 1863, and mustered into Co.I 1 Jul., 1863.  Killed in action 27 Nov., 1863 at Mine Run, VA on the Plank road between Fredricksburg and Gordonsville, of gunshot wound through the heart.  He was buried behind a nearby brick church (NARA). ROH states originally buried at Wilderness Battlefield, Spotsylvania.

Age 28.  Enlisted 9 Sep., 1861 at Wilmington, for three years.  Mustered in as a Sergeant, 7 Oct., 1861.  Absent sick in hospital Aug. to Nov., 1862.  Killed in action 12 May, 1864 at the Battle of the Wilderness (NARA). Originally buried at McCoull's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH).

Killed in action 6 May, 1864 at the Wilderness (SR).  Originally buried at Wilderness Battlefield, Spotsylvania (ROH).

Complained of Dropsy and was admitted to Stoneman Switch 1st Division, 5th Corps on 10 Mar. and died 30 Mar., 1863 (HR). Originally buried at Fitzhugh's Farm, Stafford      (ROH).       

(5638) Jesson, Charles (FVC has Jurson). Private. 12 OH Art.  Age 18.  Enlisted 8 Jun., 1861 for three years into Co. C, 25 OH vol.  Transferred to 12 OH Art. 17 Mar, 1862.  Died 11 May, 1863 at Aquia Creek (SR).  Originally buried at Tump Farm, Stafford (ROH). 

(6742) Jett, Admol L. Private First Class. Co.K, 318 Inf. 80 Div. U.S. Marine Corps. Enlisted 18 Sept., 1917.  Discharged 3 June 1919.  Died 26 Nov, 1940.  Jett’s son is buried in the same grave with his name on the reverse side of the stone. See below:

(6742) Jett, Admol Glorial, Corporal.  21 Marines, 3rd v. Fought in WW II in Bougainville and Guam.  He sacrificed his life on Iwo Jima  when he deliberately exposed himself to draw enemy       fire in order to locate enemy gun positions.  Died only after calling back directions which enabled Marine gunners to score a direct hit on an enemy postion. Died March 1, 1945. *Buried       in same grave with his father.*More information in book file.

(4600) Jobes, James S. Private. CoD, 33 NY.  Age 21. Enlisted 25 Aug, 1862 at Rochester for three years.  Mustered 17 Oct, 1862.  Died of disease 22 Dec (FVC has 23 Dec.), 1862 (ROH) in camp at White Oak Church (SR).  Originally buried at Lee's Farm, Stafford (ROH).

(504)  Jobes, Joshua (SR has Jobbs, Josiah).  Sergeant.  Co.C, 61 PA.  Age 22. Occ- glass blower. Res- Fayateville Co. Enlisted 1 Aug, 1861 at Pittsburg for three years.   Mustered 31 Oct, 1861 and went to Camp Wilkins.  Promoted Corporal Jan. or Feb, 1862. Wounded at the Battle of Fair Oaks Station 31 May, 1862.  Promoted Sergeant 6 May, 1863.  Killed at Spotsylvania Court House 12 May, 1864.(NARA). Originally buried at Laurel Hill, Spotsylvania (ROH).

Killed at Spotsylvania 19 May, 1864 (SR).  HR states he died 19 May near Shady Grove. Originally buried at Allsop's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH)  Has letters at Chatham, vol.70. Diary dates 22 Apr to 5 May, 1864 in which talks of being reviewed by Grant and Meade and the      battles of Fredericksburg and the Wilderness.
