(3535) Saunders, Simon.  Private.  Co.K, 45 PA.  Age 21.  Born: 10 Aug., 1840.  Enlisted 21 Sept., 1861 at Columbia for three years and mustered in 12 Oct., 1861 at Harrisburg.  Muster rolls report that 7 Sept., 1862 he deserted at Washington, D.C. and returned from desertion 23 Apr., 1863.  Sentenced by Court Marshal to six months hard labor and forfeit of all pay now due and all that may become due to the end of    the sentence.  Killed in action 6 May, 1864 at the Wilderness.  Son of James and Annie Nagle Saunders and had three brothers who also served during the war (NARA). (5162) Shone, Noah.  Private.  Co.D, 142 PA.  Died 1863.  Originally buried at Marlboro Point, Stafford (ROH). (Same as:Shafer, Noah W Corporal.  Co.D, 142 PA.  Age 21. Occ: Farmer.  Born: Somerset Co.  Enlisted 1 Aug., 1862 at Stoyestown for three years and mustered in 22 Aug., 1862. Promoted Corporal 27 Aug., 1862.  There is some controversy over his death.  The muster roll of 31 Dec., 1862 reports him absent, sick and wounded at Fredericksburg 13 Dec, 1862, but the roll from Mar/Apr 1863 reports him missing 13 Dec., 1862.  The company muster out rolls of 29 May, 1865 report him missing at the battle of Fredericksburg 13 Dec, 1862 and never heard from since.  His final statement says he was supposed to have died of wounds received in action 13 Dec., 1862 at Fredericksburg.  A notation in his service record states that his name in ROH is incorrect.

(4084) Showers, William.  Private.  Co.K, 1 U.S.S.S.  Age 19.  Enlisted 28 Feb., 1862 at Wayne, MI for three years or for the duration of the war.  Mustered in at Detroit 4 Mar., 1862.  Killed in battle 27 Nov, 1863 at Locust Grove after being shot through the head with a rifle ball.  Originally buried at Wilderness Battlefield, Spotsylvania (ROH).*One of four buried in this grave, others are ______Edwards, Sunder Ballard, and JH Claley.
