(2907) O'Brien, Michael. Corporal. Co.D, 24 MI.  Age. 33.  Enlisted 5 Aug, 1862 at Dearborn for three years.  Mustered in 13 Aug, 1862.  Promoted Corporal in Oct, 1863.  Killed in action at Spotsylvania 12 May, 1864 (SR).  Originally buried at Laurel Hill, Spotsylvania (ROH).

(3594) Obyle, William. Private. Co.B, 93 PA.  Age 42. Occ. Shoemaker. Enlisted 19 Sep, 1861 at Reading for three years.  Mustered into Co. G, 26 Oct., 1861.  Mustered out 31 Dec., 1863 at Brandy Station.  Reenlisted into Co. B, 1 Jan, 1864.  Killed at the Wilderness 6 May, 1864 (SR).  Originally buried at Wilderness Battlefield, Spotsylvania (ROH).

(5553) Ogline, Soloman. Private. Co.F, 133 PA.  Occ. Laborer. Enlisted 6 Aug, 1862 at Someset for nine months. Mustered into Co.G, 14 Aug, 1862.  Died 17 Jan., 1863 of Typhoid fever at Aquia Creek Hospital (NARA).  Originally buried at Marlboro Point, Stafford (ROH).

(1220) Olcewalce, David (Reg has Olswals). Private. Co.F, 148 PA. Res: Snow Shoe, PA.  Mustered in 1 Sep, 1862 for three years. Died at Falmouth 3 Apr., 1863 (Reg).  Note: ROH and FVC have Dec, 1862.  Originally buried at O'Bannon's Farm, Stafford (ROH).

(251) Olding, Carl. Private. Co.D, 15 NY H.Art.  Enlisted 22 Feb, 1864 at New York city for three years and mustered in 24 Feb, 1864.  Killed in action at Spotsylvania 19 May, 1864 (NARA).  Originally buried at Harris's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH).

(4047) Olmstead, T.G. (SR has Olmstead, Thomas I.)  Private. Co.I, 2 MI.  Age 27.  Enlisted and mustered in 24 Mar., 1864 at Kalamazoo for three years.  Joined regiment in Apr., 1864. Killed in action at the Wilderness, 6 May, 1864 (SR).  Originally buried at Wilderness Battlefield, Spotsylvania (ROH).

(3506) O'Neal, James. Private. Co.G, 7 RI.  Enlisted 8 Aug, 1862 at South Kingston for three years and mustered in 4 Sept., 1862. Died at Sturgis Hospital near Falmouth 11 Dec, 1862 of gun shot wound to shoulder received at Fredericksburg. Husband of Mary Ann (Kelly) O'Neal (NARA).  Mentioned in VA Regimental History 745 p. 7. Originally buried at Fall Hill Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH).

(1143) Open, Manuel.  Corporal.  Co.G 7RI.  Occ: Weaver.  Res: South Kingstown, RI.  Born in Germany.  Enlisted Aug. 9, 1862.  Mustered in Sept. 4, 1862.  13 Dec, 1862 wounded at Fredericksburg, VA. 18 May, 1864, killed at Spotsylvania Court House. Husband of Susan Abby Carpenter.  He was serving in the color guard when killed because he was unusually tall (Seventh Rhode Island Volunteers-Reg).  Originally buried at Harris's Farm, Spotsylvania, VA (ROH).

(5248) Organ, George A.  Sergeant. Co.I, 1 ME.  Enlisted and mustered in as a Private for three years on either 29 Apr., 1861 or 30 May, 1861.  Promoted Sergeant in Sep, 1862.  Admitted to 2nd Div. 2nd Corps Field Hospital at Windmill Point, 26 Jan, 1863.  Died in hospital 3 Feb., 1863 of chronic diarrhea (NARA).  Originally buried at Marlboro Point, Stafford (ROH).

(3542) Ormsby, Elhanan W. (ROH has Ormsburg)  Private. Co.G, 4 VT. Age 24.  Res: East Montpelier.  Enlisted 30 Aug, 1861 and mustered in 21 Sep, 1861.  Killed in action at the Wilderness Battlefield 6 May, 1864 (SR).  Originally buried at Wilderness Battlefield, Spotsylvania (ROH).

Enlisted 2 Mar, 1863 at Harpers Ferry for three years.  Mustered on as a Commissary Sergeant and then appointed Second Lieutenant, 2 Mar, 1863.  Killed in action at Spotsylvania 10 May, 1864. Husband of Mary Johnson (NARA).  Originally buried at Sanford's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH). 

(2446) Orton, Smith H. Private.  Co.C, 4 OH.  Age 23.  Mustered in 3 June, 1861 for three years.  Killed in action near Spotsylvania Court House 18 May, 1864 (SR).  Originally buried at McCoull's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH).

(246) Osburn, Joseph (ROH has Osborn). Private. Co.C, 100 PA.  Enlisted 20 Feb, 1864 at Hendersonville for three years. Mustered into Co.G, 20 Feb., 1864.  Killed in action at Spotsylvania 12 May, 1864 (gunshot wound in neck).  Husband of Casandanna Johnson (NARA).  Originally buried at Beverly's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH).

Co.A, 42 NY.  Age 26.  Enlisted at New York City for three years and mustered in as a Private, Co.E, 22 Jun, 1861.  Promoted Sergeant (no date).  Mustered in as a Second Lieutenant, Co.A, 19 Feb, 1862.  Promoted Captain 1 Mar, 1863.  Wounded in action   3 Jul, 1863 at Gettysburg.  Killed in action 12 May, 1864 at Spotsylvania (SR).  Originally buried at Brown's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH). Cemetery records of Calvery Cemetery, Queens, NY indicate that William o’Shea is buried there instead.**Correspondence in book file.

(74) Ostrander, Charles. Private. Co.H, 77 NY.  Age 26. Enlisted 6 Sept, 1862 at Galway for three years and mustered in 18 Sept, 1862.  Died of disease 6 Dec., 1862 at camp near White Oak Church (SR).  Originally buried at Robert Lee's Farm, Stafford (ROH).

Co.B, 102 NY.  Age 19.  Enlisted 4 Dec., 1861 at Rondont for three years, and mustered in 10 Jan., 1862.  Admitted to a hospital at Aquia Creek with Typhoid Pneumonia 18 Apr. (FVC has 20 Apr), 1863 and died 20 Apr, 1863 (Reg).  Originally buried at Hedgeman's Farm, Stafford (ROH).
