(825) Springer, John.  Lieutenant.  Co.B, 24 NJ.  Age, 31. Enlisted 30 Aug, 1862 at Beverly for nine months, and mustered in as Sergeant 16 Sept, 1862 at Beverly. "Wounded by a ball from the enemy at the battle of Chancellorsville, VA on the third of May, and died from the effects of his wound the next day May 4, 1863." Married to Margaret C. Springer (NARA).  Originally buried at Mrs. Smith's Farm, Spotsylvania (ROH).

(6688) Sprout, Charles. *Also listed as Charles Henry Sprow. Private.  Co.E, 1 USCT Cav.  Age, 23. Born: Spotsylvania County, VA. Enlisted 12 Dec, 1863 at Ft. Monroe, VA.  Discharged:  4 Feb, 1866. Died 13 Feb, 1926.  Married Fannie Ward 30 June, 1897;  no children.  An "adopted son", Arthur D. Cunningham, wrote the Bureau of Pensions to inform them of the death of Charles Sprout on "Feb.13, 1926" and that he was "Buried in the National Cemetery" at Fredericksburg.  There is also a notation in his pension file:  "Free Apr 19/61" (NARA). The FVC Cemetery Roster lists the date of death as 18 Feb, 1926.
